The Montclair Art Museum invites you to enjoy a night out at the Museum the first Thursday of the month.*
FIRST THURSDAY NIGHTS AT MAMA

ADMISSION: Free
- Late hours, 5–9 PM
- Free admission to the galleries. Check out exhibitions on view.
- Full-service bar with special First Thursday Night prices and a signature cocktail.
- Tours of Georgia O'Keeffe in New Mexico: Architecture, Katsinam, and the Land will be offered every hour on the half hour (5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:30 PM).
- Live music provided by the MSU John J. Cali School of Music Jazz Studies Program, led by saxophonist Dan Braden. The Wayne Shorter Ensemble, taught by guitarist Dave Stryker, will perform music of the renowned jazz master and Newark native Wayne Shorter, as well as a collection of Jazz "American Songbook" standards. The group includes Irvin Comanda (tenor saxophone/clarinet), Andrew Digrius (trumpet), Chris Allen (guitar), Pat Dalbey (bass), and Sean Meyers (drums).
Art activities will offer opportunities to draw inspiration from the exhibitions on view.
- New Directions: Jean Shin: MAM encourages Free First Thursday Night visitors to participate in the 2013 New Directions contemporary art exhibition. The third exhibition in this series (opening Fall 2013) will feature acclaimed artist Jean Shin, who creates sculptures and installations using materials gathered from the communities in which she works. MAM invites you to be a part of the creative process and donate your unwanted metal flatware (forks, knives, spoons, serving utensils, and cutlery). Collection bins will be at MAM’s entrances.
