May Programs for Adults
West Orange in the 1930's & 1940's West Orange icon, John Healy, will discuss the Great Depression, the Works Project Administration (WPA), the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the WO home front during World War II. This interesting program is part of the WO Sesquicentennial Lecture Series. Sign up online. John Healy is the author of A Time Remembered: West Orange During the Depression and War Years. He was a principal in the Bloomfield school system and is the co-founder of West Orange Old Timer's Day. Creative Workshop for Seniors: "Living Out Loud" Luna Stage, West Orange's professional theater company, partners with the Library to present an exciting series of experiential workshops for older adults. Storytelling, free-writing, and creative improvisational activities will sharpen your memory while you have fun. Bernard Ducoff Lecture Series: The Castles of New Jersey A surprising number of castles were built in New Jersey a century ago. Phil Jaeger will take you on a virtual tour of both well-known and lesser-known castles throughout the state. Jaeger often makes presentations at historical societies, libraries and civic groups. He has also frequently consulted on historical matters in northern New Jersey and is known for his large archive of postcards, maps and New Jerseyana. Funding for the Bernard Ducoff Lecture Series in the Arts and Humanities is provided in memory of Dr. Bernard Ducoff by the his family. Advance registration is recommended.
