Art Museum Day is being celebrated nationally and internationally on May 18. On this day, MAM will offer free admission to the galleries as well as a discount in The Store at MAM. In recognition of the important role museums play in their communities, MAM also encourages visitors to share their museum experiences during Art Museum Day on a special printed form available at the Museum and via social media with the hashtag #ArtMuseumDay in a collective public response. PRE-GALLERY WALK PRIVATE TOUR
WHEN: Friday, May 18, 5:30 PM
ADMISSION: FREE but advance registration required. Reserve your spot today at The Store at MAM or call 973.259.5137

To help kick off the Montclair Gallery Walk—A Little Night Art IX—and to celebrate Art Museum Day, MAM will offer a free private guided tour of New Media: New Forms, a group exhibition of new media art by New Jersey–based artists. The exhibition is this year’s New Jersey Arts Annual: Fine Arts.
MAM curator of contemporary art Alexandra Schwartz, who co-organized the exhibition, will lead the tour. Additionally, one of the artists in the show, Liselot van der Heijden, associate professor of art and art history at The College of New Jersey, will be on hand to discuss her work, a three-channel video about the Occupy Wall Street protests.

The tour will be offered from 5:30 to 6 PM, with the galleries remaining open until 6:45 PM. Visitors can then join the Montclair Gallery Walk, which runs until 9 PM.
