The Young People’s Chorus at Thurnauer (YPC@T), the student choir of the JCC Thurnauer School of Music, is pleased to announce its 2012 Winter Concert. The  concert will include the Prelude (ages 6-9) and Concert (ages 10-18) choirs, as well as the Grieco and McCloud choirs. The latter two ensembles are part of the Music School’s Music Discovery Partnership—a collaboration with Englewood Public School District since 1997. The concert included New York Philharmonic music director Alan Gilbert and musicians from the New York Philharmonic performing with the Thurnauer Symphony Orchestra, as well as performances by student violin groups. The choir is an affiliate of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, whose music director, Francisco Nuñez, recently earned a 2011 MacArthur Fellowship (one of only 22 recipients); was named ABC’s Person of the Week on September 23, 2011; and received a 2011 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from First Lady Michelle Obama.

“It’s such a pleasure work with children from all over Bergen Country and have them come together to sing!” said choir director Emma Brondolo, a former student of Mr. Nuñez. “YPC@T choristers are gifted musicians and their commitment to creating a beautiful sound at such a young age is inspiring. We are very excited to perform our 2012 Winter Concert!”
