Russ Barenberg received a Grammy nomination in the Bluegrass Instrumental Category for his 2008 CD, When At Last. He is revered by guitar players for his melodicism and the singing tone he coaxes from his instrument. Skip, Hope and Wobble, his 1993 album with dobro virtuoso Jerry Doublas and bassist Edgar Meyer, is a landmark recording, recognized as one of the great collaborations of acoustic musicians.

Tony Trischka is the dean of 5-string banjo; not just a bluegrass musician, but a real genre buster. According to the New York Times, Tony is "the godfather of what is sometimes know as new acoustic music." Tony produced Steve Martin's most recent bluegrass CD, Rare Bird Alert.
