The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]

This show is a high-speed roller-coaster type condensation of all of Shakespeare’s plays and was London’s longest-running comedy.

WHEN: Sunday, July 17, at 6 PM and Monday, July 18, at 7 PM (Callbacks may be scheduled for Wednesday, July 20, at 7 PM)
WHERE:
Dover Little Theatre, 69 Elliott Street, Dover

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Please note that these are general character sketches.  The actors cast will bring a great deal of their individual personalities and special skills to the show.

  • Jess (Male, 20s-30s) – The intellectual of the group.  He occasionally tries to steer the show into something resembling a scholarly approach and fails miserably.  Narrates Romeo & Juliet, plays Titus Andronicus, Macbeth, Anthony, King John, Hamlet.
  • Daniel (Male, 20s-30s) – The midpoint between the extremes of Jess and Adam.  Has Shakespeare knowledge, but can still get into the spirit of Adam’s playfulness.  Plays Romeo, Nurse, Friar Lawrence, Witch, Julius Caesar, Richard II, King Lear, Richard III, Horatio, Polonius, Laertes.
  • Adam (Male, 20s-30s) – The stooge and the most easily distracted of the group.  Of the three, Adam knows the least about Shakespeare, but his enthusiasm is contagious.  Plays most of the women & therefore wears a lot of wigs.  Plays Juliet, Benvolio, Lavinia, Macduff, Cleopatra, Henry VI, Bernardo, Ophelia, Claudius, Gertrude.

Auditioners will be asked to read from the script and perform improvisations. Please bring a headshot & resume if available. Performances are in September.

NOTE: Special Skills such as juggling, balloon animals, fire-eating, tap-dancing, etc. are encouraged. We will do our best to incorporate them into the show.  NOTHING IS TOO WEIRD!

Technical/Backstage positions are also available. Please call the theatre (973.328.9202) and leave a message. The producer will call you back!
