Opening act will be the Chicago blues sound of Betsy Rose and The Chicago Fire.

Led by Dr Lou Iozzi, a past president of the New Jersey Jazz Society, Reeds, Rhythm and All That Brass was formed in 1973. The group re-creates the classic sounds of the Big Band Era, using many of the original arrangements from Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and the other giants of the mid-twentieth century. The band members, professional and semi-professional jazz veterans, volunteer their time and talent for charitable and civic events, and have raised over two million dollars for worthy causes. The eighteen-piece band features the full complement of the classic big band—trumpets, trombones, a saxophone front line, piano, percussion, guitar, and bass in the rhythm section. Fronting the band is a male vocal soloist. Reeds, Rhythm and All That Brass creates for contemporary audiences the living experience of the Big Band Sound.

Betsy Rose, a.k.a. Elizabeth Lachowicz, brings to the stage a clear voice and saucy style rooted in the sights and sounds of Chicago's toughest neighborhoods and rowdiest music bars. With her backup band, The Chicago Fire, she explores life lessons, raw emotions, heartfelt sorrows and playful innuendo.

The concert is part of The Minstrel Acoustic Concert Series, sponsored by The Folk Project each Friday evening at The Fellowship.
