ensembleMusical Theatre Conservatory announces scholarship auditions for their Summer 2011 theatre training program, Summer Theatre Experience. Designed to immerse young performers in all aspects of training for musical theatre, the program includes exciting classes in voice, acting, theatre dance, stage combat, TV acting, audition technique and more culminating in a final show as the grand finale. Located in Livingston, the 3-week session runs from June 27 – July 15 (no class July 4) and is open to students ages 9-17.

Musical Theatre Conservatory is under the artistic direction of Randy Kravitz Elman and Mary Brienza. Elman served for 25 years as artistic director for Performers Theatre Workshop, a performing arts school for young people. Brienza has held faculty positions at American Theatre Dance Workshop and Broadway Dance Center. She continues to work as a writer and performer and is currently teaching at New York City’s High School for the Performing Arts. Between them, the two can count Natalie Portman, Jamie Lynn Sigler (Sopranos), Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), and Brandon Uranowitz (Baby It’s You) among their former students.

“We share a commitment to quality instruction in a positive, nurturing environment,” Brienza commented. “We also share a desire to help offset the cost by offering some scholarship opportunities.”

Elman concurred, “We both were the beneficiaries of scholarships during the course of our own training. Now we’d like to pass-on our own good fortune.
