The Theater Project Presents Script-in-Hand Staged Reading of
Play by NJ Playwright Rachel Rubin Ladutke

The Theater Project, Union County College's Professional Theater Company, will perform a script-in-hand staged reading of a two-act drama with music, Clary’s Exodus by Rachel Rubin Ladutke. The production will be followed by a lively discussion with the playwrights, directors, actors and audience.

Clary’s Exodus is set in Harlem in 1926. With Prohibition is full swing, and blues clubs sizzling hot, the story centers on a girl struggling to cope with a shocking truth about her past and a woman trying to find her own path to spirituality without losing her soul. Various musical styles help depict the characters’ very different background, including the driving sound of urban blues, Jewish religious music, and popular radio evangelist tunes.
Rachel Rubin Ladutke is a resident of Nutley, New Jersey. Her plays have been recognized in several national competitions and she has had a number of pieces published. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild and currently edits Insight for Playwrights, a monthly marketing newsletter for playwrights.
