On Thursday, January 20, 2011, Pianos Bar and Grill premiered a monthly series of a special performances by, about and for the entertainment of women: Ladies Night at PIANOS: Laughs with the Ladies. Designed so that women can enjoy a night out, support other talented women, and “decompress” without having to ride the train or fight the NYC traffic, the monthly Ladies’ Night at PIANOS series began with triple-threat talent Kathy Cogan of West Orange bringing her latest audience participatory show, Klutz or Superhero—You Decide, to an appreciative full house at PIANOS.

The series continues on February 19 with a performance of another new one-woman show Losing It…and Taking It Back, written and performed by well-known comedienne Deb Maclean, leader of the comedy improv troupe, Lunatic Fringe. Maclean has performed her previous one-woman show Motherhood and Other Desperate Acts across the tri-state area to rave reviews.

PIANOS is already well-known both for its music, theatrical productions and its excellent menu. “Our mission and commitment,” says Melissa Surow Hathaway, PIANOS General Manager, “is to showcase tri-state talent. We seek out, promote and support the incredible group of performers living in this area by providing a venue they can ‘call home. It seemed to us that talented women were underserved in the entertainment market, and that the rest of us would be delighted to have a chance to show our support and have a great time while we do it.”
