STATE ARTS COUNCIL AWARDS GRANT TO THURNAUER SCHOOL

Kudos to the Thurnauer School of Music at the Kaplen JCC in Tenafly! I’ve posted about their programs before. Remember: JCC membership is not a requirement for enrollment or financial aid at the Thurnauer School which is supported, in part, by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

Theclip_image002 Kaplen JCC on the Palisades recently received a grant of $44,858 from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for General Program Support for the Thurnauer School of Music. The music school was also again named a Major Arts Institution, a designation reserved for the most distinguished arts organizations in the State.

Avi Lewinson, Executive Director of the Kaplen JCC, congratulated Dorothy Kaplan Roffman, Thurnauer School Director, noting that the grant was double what was received last year. “This grant is a well-deserved recognition of the work of the Thurnauer School, which over the last quarter-century has developed into the leading music school in New Jersey. We are very proud of Dorothy Roffman and the entire Thurnauer staff and faculty.”

The Thurnauer School of Music (www.jccotp.org/thurnauer) is among 45 arts organizations in New Jersey designated as “Major Arts Institutions” by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
As New Jersey's leading community music school, it serves over 700 students in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. It also serves as an area cultural resource by presenting over 30 concerts annually, as well as master classes with world-renowned artists. The School is a member of the National Guild of Community Arts Education and an integral part of the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades.
