LOCAL ARTIST TO SHOW PAINTINGS AT BEDMINSTER LIBRARY

I was pleased to receive this information from Lorraine Robertson herself, alerting me to a cultural event I might have known nothing about. Art lovers, check it out!

Lorraine Robertson Lorraine Robertson, a Family Physician who began painting in retirement, winning awards and becoming a member of the Society of Oil Painters of America, will exhibit about 50 of her original paintings.

WHEN: the entire month of October; reception October 7—all are invited to attend
WHERE: Clarence Dillon Library, Lamington Road, Bedminster

rooster Dr. Robertson paints in watercolor, pastel, acrylic and oil. She paints every day. She spends part of the year in New Jersey and the other part on the West Coast of Florida and holds membership in a number of art associations in both places.

In the last few years, she has held a number of solo shows and has exhibited in a number of Juried Shows as well. Recently, she was accepted into the Society of Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her oil paintings.

Although Dr. Robertson loved her life’s work and found it very creative (try being responsible for the health of people of all ages and from all walks of life), she has always hungered for other outlets for creative expression. She also plays the piano and, more recently, took up the flute.

She says, “I am thoroughly enjoying my second career as an artist. It has totally transformed the way I see the world and has given me a humble appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us in every day things.”

A number of people have commented on the fact that she seems to paint all subjects—figures, nudes, still life, seascapes, cityscapes, florals and landscapes. (Left, Boating on Lake Wallenpaupack) She says, “I can now see beauty everywhere and want to capture it on canvas. The best part is sharing my excitement and enthusiasm for that beauty with those that view my art.”

Some examples of her art work may be viewed on her website,
