When Power, Identity, and Ambition
Collide
Lucia is a
Mexican-American TV writer navigating a cutthroat industry that wasn’t
built for her. When she befriends Abel, a Latino janitor at the studio,
their candid conversations about class, privilege, and survival in
Hollywood become the foundation of an unexpected connection. But as Lucia
climbs the ranks, the lines between allyship and ambition blur—who gets
to tell whose story, and at what cost?
From Tanya Saracho, the
creator of Vida,
comes Fade—a
sharp, witty, and deeply relevant play about power, identity, and the
sacrifices we make to get ahead.
“When you look at when it was originally written and
produced during the first Trump presidency, you would think that, years
later, we’ve progressed. And in fact, it feels as though we’re in the
same place, if not going backwards. Especially when we talk about
diversity, equity, and inclusion, it feels like everyone is rallying
against it, as if we’ve already ‘fixed it.’ But there is still work to be
done.” - Dana A. Iannuzzi (Director)
At Vanguard Theater,
our mission is to challenge social and cultural narratives through
professional theater dedicated to DREAM:
Diversity, Reciprocity, Education, Activism, and Mentorship.
Fade
embodies that mission, shedding light on the intersections of race,
class, and representation in media. As conversations about authenticity
and inclusion take center stage in our industry and beyond, Fade invites
audiences to examine who gets to tell whose story—and what happens when
ambition and ethics collide.
Fade runs April 4–13 at Vanguard
Theater! Don’t

AUDITION
FOR OUR MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION OF HAIR!
|

|
Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is a bold, raw, and electrifying celebration of
youth, freedom, and resistance. Set in the turbulent 1960s, the show
follows a “tribe” of politically active, anti-establishment young
people searching for truth, identity, and meaning in a chaotic world.
As Claude faces the decision of whether or not to comply with the
draft and serve in the Vietnam War, the group rallies around ideals
of love, liberation, and defiance.
