Adventures in Studio Art
(Ages 5+)

Students will explore traditional fine art materials and techniques, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and mixed media.

Pottery Camp
(Ages 6+)
$55/day; $160/3 days for members

Students will learn various pottery techniques, including handbuilding and wheel throwing*, and will create vessels and sculptures that are unique, fun, functional and decorative. Held in the Yard School of Art’s Ceramics Studio.

*Wheel throwing will be offered to students age 8 and older.


Basket weaving fun!

Basket Weaving for Beginners

Personalize your home decor with a unique basket! Beginners will make a magazine holder, waste paper basket, or catch-all basket. Use wood reed in a variety of shapes and sizes and add embellishments to personalize your design. At the end of the course, students will have a one-of-a kind wooden woven basket to take home for themselves or give away as a holiday gift. Materials fee of $25 payable to instructor on day of workshop.

Whoa! Since when is soap cool? Soap making has been around for ages. Get super sudsy with natural oils, fruits, and powders that you’ll mix, cut, chop, and grind. Super suds will blow your mind! Go clean, go green, and get artsy.


Last chance - Editorial Cartooning for teens

Are you considering submitting to the Scholastic Art Award competition? Spend an inspiring afternoon at a workshop with professional editorial cartoonist Lauren Weinstein.

An Introduction to Editorial Cartooning Workshop with Lauren Weinstein
Grades 7–12
Sunday, November 22, 3–5 p.m.

Students will participate in hands-on instruction exploring the unique art of editorial cartooning, and the many ways in which to comment on contemporary issues that matter to them. Lauren Weinstein will share her personal experience developing her artistic career and students will learn how they can submit their work to the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to receive recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships.

Presented by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards at the Montclair Art Museum.
