There are 40 classes and workshops for adults and 18 classes for children ages five through teens. Classes are offered for artists with all levels of expertise in a variety of media including oil and acrylic paint, pastel, gouache, watercolor, drawing, photography, and ceramics.
Winter workshops provide unique one-day opportunities for local artists. The popular Zentangle Art! with Mimi Topping is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun method of creating beautiful images by drawing structured patterns in black and white.
Grafitti Workshop with James Kelewae is a new workshop offered for adults. This hands-on workshop is geared to people who have a love of this under-appreciated art form and would like to experiment with it themselves. Kelewae will cover tags, stencils, spray paint.
The Center’s unique curriculum of children’s art classes allows young artists to enroll in either overview classes that explore a broad range of media and techniques, or in-depth classes designed to deepen and develop skills in a single medium. This winter, The Center is offering a Photography Workshop for teens with instructor Ellen Denuto. Students will learn how to compose great pictures, and express ideas through digital photographic imagery paying attention to composition, content, and design. Additionally, children ages nine through twelve can enroll in a Cartooning Class. The class will focus on the secrets of cartooning and comic book illustration! Students will learn the basics of storytelling, comic style drawing, and character creation.
