FREE CLASSICAL GUITAR RECITAL IN PRINCETON

Dr. Calmes is a graduate of The Juilliard School and the University of Southern California, and teaches guitar full-time at Wall High School in New Jersey.

Dr. Calmes’ previous performances include a Carnegie Recital Hall debut as winner of the Artists International Competition, lecture recitals at the national conventions of the Guitar Foundation of America and the American String Teachers Association, and concerts of the complete guitar works of Brazilian composer Hector Villa-Lobos.

His latest recording, All We Know is Now, features new works written for him by prominent guitar composers Maximo Pujol, Stepan Rak, Chiel Meijering, among others. 

On this recital, Calmes will play world premiere performances of a three movement suite written for him by the Czech composer Stepan Rak, and an original composition written as a student of Indian music (in the raga of Mayamalavagaula). Also on the program will be music from Calmes' latest CD by Maximo Pujol, Kevin Siegfried and New Jersey composer Timothy Broege.
