MDR’S THEATRE IN THE LOFT: THIS TIME IT’S EVIL!

EVIL TIME
By David Johnston
Directed by Robert Ross Parker

. . . Time for MDR's monthly Theatre in the Loft! And this time, it's EVIL!

This month MDR presents a reading of David Johnston's Evil Time as part of our ongoing play development series focused on new and innovative American theatre. Come see a brand new work performed by MDR's world-renowned performers, and then stay after the show for amazing conversation with the writers and cast! Don't miss this next opportunity to help a new work take shape.

WHEN: Sunday, September 8th at 7 PM
WHERE:
SOPAC Loft, 1 SOPAC Way (behind the train station), South Orange

In Evil Time, we watch as Ray, a clean young Christian, begins his internship at King of Kings World Media Corp. (a nexus of power, media and political influence in the Christian right movement). He quickly discovers that all is not as it seems to be: Dr. Billy has visions, Florence carries a gun, and before long Ray is having an affair with a mysterioius male UPS carrier. Oh, and then the two of them uncover a fiendish plot by religious conservatives to bring about the end of the world. Violence, religious extremism, and black comedy all collide in this slapstick tragedy.

Midtown Direct Rep company members include two-time Tony Winner Norbert Leo Butz, Tony Nominee Christiane Noll, and "Law & Order; SVU" regular Joel de la Fuente, among others.  The Company is managed by Co-Artistic Directors Sandy Rustin and Jeremy Dobrish, Managing Director Jeffrey Shubart, and Producing Director Evan Fleischer.
