ABOUT THE PLAY

It’s 1:30 in the morning. Janet was asleep, but now she’s not because Lily has just barged in, a bit drunk and unexpected. Janet wants to go back to bed because she has work in the morning, but Lily has other plans. So wine is poured, old memories are revisited and secrets emerge as these two old friends navigate the night, middle age and the roads that lie ahead.

CHARACTERS:

  • Lily: 40-50 years old. Any ethnicity. Born and raised in NJ. Married the hometown boy who made a ton of money.  Very wealthy. Loud and outspoken, with a tendency toward profanity on the outside, but smart, sensitive and fearful on the inside. Actress must have a great sense of comedy.
  • Janet: 40-50 years old. Any ethnicity. Born and raised in NJ. Married the hometown boy who did NOT make a ton of money.  Mother of two, recently divorced. Uptight, intellectual, leans toward restrained sarcasm, a bit righteous on the outside, but ready to break free. Actress must have a great sense of comedy.
