The one and only Groucho Marx was an unforgettable figure in this country’s history. The New York Times summed up this comedic genius as “America’s most gifted funny man.” This summer, Centenary Stage Company welcomes the performer that has been recognized and applauded world-wide for his ability to embody this legend. Award-winning actor/director/playwright Frank Ferrante brings back the classic laughs of the black and white era, in his popular touring show An Evening with Groucho.

FF-groucho-4 small (512x640)Frank Ferrante recreates his highly acclaimed portrayal of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in this fast-paced 90-minute show full of hilarity that has been aired on PBS, and featured on stages in New York and London. Ferrante was also one of a select few interviewed on a Groucho Marx feature on the CBS Morning Show. The two-act comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including "Hooray for Captain Spalding," and "Lydia, The Tattooed Lady."

The audience literally becomes part of the show as Ferrante ad-libs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style. Ferrante portrays the young Groucho of stage and film and reacquaints us with the likes of brothers Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo with moments from legends like Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, Greta Garbo, Marx Foil, Margaret Dumont and MGM's Louis B. Mayer. Ferrante was also one of a select group of celebrities interviewed on the CBS Morning Show feature about the life and works of Groucho Marx.

An Evening with Groucho is part of Centenary Stage Company’s Jammin’ in July Summer Concert Series, which will also include Masters of Motown, The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, and New Jersey Youth Theatre’s production of West Side Story with a Flex Pass available to all FOUR events at $90.00 per person.
