A PLEA TO SAVE A SERIES OF JAZZ CONCERTS

Dear Readers,

A distressing message came to my inbox today regarding the fate of a cultural event I was completely unaware of, a Jazz series at a historic mansion called Rutherfurd Hall out in western New Jersey. I reprint the message here in hopes that those of you who love jazz will come out to support their upcoming event (which I posted about earlier today). it is important that we keep the arts alive in New Jersey! Their 2013-2014 season features big names in the jazz world:

Ruth Ross

Dear Jazz Fan,

I need your help and support. Ticket sales are weak for this Sunday’s concert featuring Dena DeRose. She is a very talented jazz pianist and vocalist.

If I can’t generate a good turnout for this event I am seriously considering cancelling the 2013-2014 jazz series, which features the following:

Rutherfurd Hall Jazz Concerts 2013-2014 Season  (Sundays 3:00 PM)

09-22-13       The Danny Mixon Trio + Jerry Weldon

10-27-13       The Jay Leonhart Trio + One

11-24-13       The Hendrik Meurkins Quartet

12-29-13       The Rio Clemente Quartet

01-19-14       The Dave Roper Trio

02-16-14       Tony DeSare with Tom Santopietro

03-23-14       Houston Person with The Dave Leonhardt Trio

04-20-14       Wooster Street Trolley Jazz Band - Dave Leive (leader)

WHERE: Rutherfurd Hall, Rutherfurd Hall, 1686 Route 517, Allamuchy

Without audience support I have little choice but to drop the jazz series. Too bad it’s great music with talented musicians.

This Sunday’s size of audience will determine whether I keep the series alive. I have made every effort to keep jazz alive and well now its up to you!

Sincerely,

Ed Coyne
