STROLLERS SEEK ACTORS FOR SEPTEMBER PRODUCTION

strollerlogoAUDITION NOTICE

Marcus is Walking
by Joan Ackerman on

WHEN: Wednesday, June 26, at 7:30 PM
WHERE: the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts, 10 Durand Road, Maplewood

Populated by over 20 characters, men and women are sought for roles from all ethnic background and ages.  Scenes include small children, teenage schoolgirls, 20 and 30 year-old couples, middle aged spouses, and even grandparents.  In addition, there are two scenes devoid of dialogue, set entirely to music.  Therefore, we are seeking dancers or actors who are comfortable with movement.

The play consists of 11 scenes which examine the emotional landscape we roam as we travel in our cars. Control, navigation, love and escape, are some of the themes explored.

Scenes include a protective father shepherding his son through the neighborhood on Halloween; an actor on his way to perform Hamlet provokes a rear-end collision and confrontation with a Czech émigré cab driver; a devastated businessman who strikes up an unlikely alliance with a homeless woman who sleeps in his car.  A whole family in a sedan, two separate couples, and a pair of guys just trying to escape all find themselves woven throughout the fabric of the play.

No appointment is necessary.  Sides will be provided at the audition.

Performance dates are September 6th, & 7th at 8PM and September 8th at 2 PM
