djbapril2013[1]David Baker, the Jerusalem-based Senior Foreign Press Coordinator of the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, will make a rare presentation at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades to discuss Israel Today from a Media Perspective. As the key liaison between the Prime Minister's Office and the international press corps, Mr. Baker will address media trends and current events, Middle Eastern and Foreign Affairs, and what it is like to serve on the front lines of Israel's media battleground. He will also speak about Positively Israel, the global leader in renewable energy, agricultural innovation, and medical breakthroughs that is improving quality of life all over the world.

Serving as Senior Foreign Press Coordinator for years, Mr. Baker briefs foreign journalists regarding the Prime Minister’s policies, advises the media about the Prime Minister’s response to what is broadcast or published, and presents Israeli government spokespeople to the international press in Israel and abroad. He also analyzes foreign media trends and explains and interprets information policies for the international media. Last year, he received a special commendation for “exceptional work” from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at a special ceremony at the Jerusalem Office, where he is well known among members of the foreign press as the media coordinator for four prime ministers: Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon, Ehud Olmert and Netanyahu.

Prior to his work in the Prime Minister's office, David worked as a writer and editor for the Ministry of Education's international relations division and was a journalist for several English-language publications in Israel. He holds the rank of Captain as a reserve officer in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit. A specialist in analyzing media trends in regard to the current situation in Israel, Mr. Baker has spoken extensively in North America, both on university campuses and within the Jewish community.
