Based on Puccini's opera, Madama Butterfly tells the tragic story of Butterfly, a geisha who marries a U.S. Navy officer (Pinkerton) on leave. The officer intending no more than a fling however she takes the marriage seriously, He leaves her alone and sails back home. He returns 3 years later with his American wife, Butterfly's vigil ends in tragedy.
