THE PREMIERE STAGES SPRING READINGS

Come help Premiere Stages decide which plays will be part of our 2013 summer season!

Featuring interactive readings of four of the region's most promising new plays, the Spring Readings are presented with support from the New Jersey Theatre Alliance's Stages Festival.

Premiere Stages presents four exciting readings of new plays for the 2013 Premiere Stages Play Festival. Two of these finalists, chosen from over 400 submissions, will be selected for continued development over the summer. Audience response is a valuable tool and a talkback with the playwright follows each reading.

The Beautiful Dark

A woman's life is turned upside down when she suspects that her teenage son may be planning an attack on a school. Is her son capable of the unthinkable? And can she stop him before it’s too late? The Beautiful Dark provides a moving and thought-provoking approach to a subject that haunts the American psyche.

A Playwriting workshop designed for aspiring playwrights of all experience levels, this workshop will detail the journey of a new play from concept to execution, submission and, hopefully, production. Led by professional playwrights, the workshop will feature a discussion of the submission process, advice on moving your play from the page to the stage, as well as writing exercises.
