Pushcart Players, New Jersey’s premier repertory company for children, returns to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly, with a grand new version of their classic musical, Stone Soup and Other Stories. This witty and imaginative collection of favorites has been transformed by a large cast and exciting production extras, and has been performed all over the world.

SOUP photo of cast of 4In title story from Eastern Europe, a young man tries every ploy imaginable to wheedle free meals from a clever young woman. Each outsmarts the other until both end up with chicken soup.

Other stories include Freddy Lee Fisher about an eight-year-old girl and her father, a chocolate cake, a puppy and three pies; a tale from India about a princess who loves a Royal Mouse-catcher, but, of course, the King wants her to marry The Greatest Being; and The Long One, a mischievous tale from Africa, about a rabbit with a tricky problem in his house. His best friend, the Monkey, tries to help him, but other “friends” get everyone in trouble.

Filled with humor, fantasy, color and wit, this musical is guaranteed to intrigue and delight young audiences from ages three through ten.
