Ron Levy Plays Beethoven

Ron LevyInternationally acclaimed pianist makes his debut performance with The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey

WHEN: Sunday January 13, 3:00 PM
WHERE: Grace Church, 4 Madison Ave (Route 124) in Madison, New Jersey.  

Levy will perform the popular and magical Piano Conceto #1 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Described as "first-class" by The New York Times, Levy is a founding member of the Hudson Trio, Kaleidoscope, The New World Trio and the award-winning Palisades Virtuosi. He teaches at Montclair State University and is affiliated with The Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School. In addition to bringing popular works to life, Levy has been a leading figure in the commissioning and performance of new works as well as presenting rarely heard masterpieces of the past.

The concert will also feature Gargoyles, a young male vocal ensemble founded and coached by Dr. Anne Matlack at Grace Church. They will sing early American sacred and secular pieces to open the American music segment of the 2013 Wassail concert.     

In keeping with the orchestra's performance of a wider repertoire including contemporary world premiere compositions, Suite for a Mid-Winter Afternoon by Maestro Robert W. Butts will be part of the special concert. Dr. Butts's theatrical and orchestral composition have been popular at past concerts.  His chamber operas Mark Twain and the General and The Tell-Tale Heart are being considered for production by opera companies in New York and elsewhere.
