A POST-HURRICANE SANDY UPDATE

Dear Readers of the NJ Arts Maven,

Hurricane Sandy hit West Orange on Monday night, October 29; my power went out at 10:28 PM. Fortunately, I had shut down the computer so I had no problems re-booting when the power came on again.

THAT happened Sunday, November 4, in the afternoon. I spent Tuesday through Sunday at my niece’s house, out of commission with regard to posting updates of cancellations and re-scheduling.

Most NJ cultural venues cancelled their productions for November 2-4. They have either extended the run of the show, cancelled them altogether or have noted that a new date will be announced in the future.

If you are unsure of the path taken by the venue you were interested in attending, call the number on the posting for an update. I will try to stay on top of things, but there was such widespread outage that the task is nearly impossible.

Fortunately, I am back at home, safe, sound and warm (and in my own bed). My heart goes out to those people at the shore who lost everything (here in NJ and LI). Don’t forget to donate to the Red Cross. They need money and blood, not goods in kind.

Regards,

Ruth Ross
