The New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts is excited to announce a special four week teen musical theater audition workshop led by Sara Louise Lazarus and Joseph Baker.
Sara Louise Lazarus (Director/Coach) is a Mac and Bistro Awards winner for Outstanding Director. As one of New York’s foremost performance coaches, Sara has held musical audition and performance workshops for over twenty years. Her students have appeared on and off Broadway, in national tours and regional theatre in such shows as BOOK OF MORMON, WICKED, BILLY ELLIOT, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, LES MISERABLES, THE PRODUCERS, LA 
CAGE AUX FOLLES, and on tv in SMASH. She has directed or taught Gregg Edelman, Jason Graae, Andrew Lippa, Jason Robert Brown, Kate Weatherhead, Christianne Noll, Mark Waldrop and Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga!)
Sara is on the faculty of Circle In The Square Theatre School, where she teaches and directs. She has led workshops at Yale, Harvard, The University of New Hampshire, and Penn State. This past summer she held enormously successful master classes in Los Angeles sponsored by ASCAP as part of the LA Festival of New American Musicals. Sara is also on the faculty of the New Jersey State Theatre and Paper Mill Playhouse. Joe Baker has been a musical director/pianist for Broadway’s FOOTLOOSE, THE LIFE, WICKED and more…
In the workshop, students will learn proven audition techniques and begin putting together a solid music theater audition repertoire Music will be chosen specifically for each student--based not only on vocal and acting ability, but also carefully selected to show their best side in an audition. Sara and Joe will also find appropriate audition-length edits of your music. At the end of the workshop each student will receive a customized practice CD that can be used for rehearsal and which will be an invaluable tool at auditions where there’s no accompanist available! (Many regional and academic auditions are now done this way.)
