A NEW SEASON IN A NEW PLACE: DREAMCATCHER REP

Dreamcatcher Rep is one of my favorite local professional companies. I have followed them from Bloomfield to South Orange and now to their new home in Summit. Check out their 2012-2013 season:

Dreamcatcher's 2010-2011 Season includes two New Jersey premieres fresh from Off-Broadway, plus 2 improv nights, holiday special, readings and kids show

On The Main Stage

The NeighborhoodTHE NEIGHBORHOOD
By Laura Ekstrand & Joseph Zawila

WHEN:September 28 – October 14
WHERE:  The Oakes Center, 120 Morris Ave., Summit
TICKETS: $30; seniors/students $25

This new musical—written for and with Dreamcatcher’s resident acting company—looks at how we deal with our daily proximity to people who are sometimes strangers, sometimes friends, and most often something in between. This frank and funny evening of vignettes, monologues and songs will strike a chord with everyone in the audience. (World premiere)

The NeighborhoodTHE LANGUAGE ARCHIVE
By Julia Cho

WHEN: January 25 – February 10
TICKETS: $30; seniors/students $25

This hit show is coming to Dreamcatcher fresh from its recent runs at Roundabout in New York and South Coast Rep in California. This comedy of the heart explores the mysterious language of love, which often fails when it is needed most. Winner of the 2010 Blackburn Prize, The Language Archive weaves together the stories of five people in the throes of love, from the durable to the disappointing to the unrequited. “A quirky but ravishingly well-written piece that is smart, funny, deep and tender,” wrote OC Weekly. (New Jersey premiere)

The NeighborhoodSHAKESPEARE IN VEGAS
By Suzanne Bradbeer

WHEN: April 4 – 2
TICKETS: $30; seniors/students $25

This new comedy tells the story of a disheartened actress from New York and a wise guy with a dream who go to Sin City to create a legit Shakespeare theatre. Will generations-old family secrets and a cast of IQ-challenged showgirls derail their plans? Bradbeer is an award-winning playwright whose plays Full Bloom and You Miss Them When They’re Not Around have appeared on the Dreamcatcher stage in past seasons. (World premiere co-production with the Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey)
