A Special Concert By One of the Top Middle Eastern Music Ensembles, YEMEN BLUES, winner of album of the Year 2011 in Sweden by SvD. Starring Ravid Kahalani, charismatic singer in the Idan Raichel Project.

YEMEN BLUES mixes traditional Yemenite melodies with the world of blues, jazz and funk. Flavours of West African roots and enhanced modern compositions are creating a breathtaking experience and a mixture of beautiful complex grooves with an amazing live energy where ever this band enters the stage.

"Raw and rooty are two good words for this young and wide-wandering band founded by the Yemeni Jewish singer Ravid Kalahani and Israeli bassist Omer Avital that at evokes New Orleans second-line bands, the mesmerizing and earthy sounds of West African stringed guimbri, and rocking Middle Eastern rhythms, all coursing together in a raucous party of a stage show. With Kalahani's soulful vocals alternating between the grit of the Mississippi Delta to the falsetto of Prince-style funk, Yemen Blues was one of the breakout favorites from this year's globalFEST lineup."
