nunsense-gwenjones12The story begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show with music, dance, laughter and an audience quiz as they take over the Bickford Theatre this summer.

The Bickford Theatre’s Artistic Director, Eric Hafen, is directing this production. Commenting on the show, Hafen says, “I have produced Nunsense many times. To me, it is the perfect summer entertainment for the entire family, full of laughs, great songs and the most unforgettable collection of nuns you will ever meet.” (Right: Gwendolyn F. When it opened in New York, the show won four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical and Best Music. Nunsense’s book, music and lyrics are by Dan Goggin. The New York Times called Nunsense “A hail of fun and frolic!” and “A lively, ‘nun-stop’ musical.” Nunsense is recommended for audiences age 12 and over.
