THE THEATER PROJECT “ HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH”

AUDITION NOTICE:

WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH AUDITIONS FOR WILLY WONKA

WHEN: Tuesday, June 19, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM
WHERE:
  The Jardine Academy/Cerebral Palsy Center, 61 Myrtle St. in Cranford
Please plan on being there the entire time—bring comfy clothes/shoes, snacks, water, etc.

The Theater Project Workshop for Youth will hold auditions for its summer program. If you are interested in auditioning, please contact Mary at 973.716.6654 or e-mail at StageDoor13@gmail.com and she will send you the complete audition package.

Information Theater Workshop (for youths age 8 –18)

WHEN: Seven weeks – June 21 to August 12; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The last two weeks are mandatory. At the end of the session, students will give three (3) performances – August 10, 11 and 12 (Aug 12 is a Sunday matinee.)
TUITION: There will be a $325 registration fee for those accepted (discounts available for multiple children in same family). Students will also be asked to participate in fundraising for the production by selling ads in the program and tickets for the performances to help defray production costs.

Students will learn: 

  • Acting and vocal techniques
  • Character development
  • Stage makeup
  • Presentation skills

Interested students can also gain knowledge in the technical aspects of theater—stage management, set design, lighting, etc., if they choose to volunteer for those crews. 

Admission is by audition. Class enrollment is limited. 

During auditions, they will be asked to: 

  • Sing two songs from the show with piano accompaniment: The Candy Man and I Want It Now
  • Sing one song of their own choosing without accompaniment (does not have to be from the show)
  • Memorize the monologues provided – Sides 1 & 2. Iif you come to the audition without memorizing the monologues, you may not be considered for a lead role
  • Perform a scene from the script
  • Learn and perform a brief dance routine (taught that day)
