EXCITING SEASON SET BY PREMIERE STAGES

TAMARACK HOUSE
Staged Reading

WHEN: June 22 – 24
WHERE:
Murphy Dunn Theatre in the Vaughn Eames Building, Kean University campus, 1000 Morris Ave., Union
TICKETS: Free

Premiere Stages will develop Michael Dowling’s Tamarack House as part of a week-long workshop directed by Anders Cato, presented to the public as an interactive staged reading.

In this richly topical new play, a compelling group of discarded misfits, caught in the whirlpool of a fleeting American dream, struggle to hold onto the stately boarding house that defines them.

The event offers patrons a unique opportunity to participate in the development of a new play. Talk-backs with the playwright and audience follow each reading.

Premiere Stages Play Festival Winner
HANDICAPPED PEOPLE IN THEIR FORMAL ATTIRE

TICKETS:
$30 Standard • $20 Senior • $15 Student
Box Office: 908.737.SHOW (7469)

While the play's title appears to be politically incorrect, this uniquely moving play is an uplifting story of those who refuse to yield to labels or limitations. On a hot summer night in 1968 members of the Delaware Association for the Handicapped kick up their heels at a black tie fundraiser to honor quadriplegic Agnes Sheehan, who is escorted by her able-bodied sister, Theresa. As the tensions of the era erupt outside, a lifetime of pent-up resentment is unleashed between the two women as they confront the true meaning of sacrifice.
