maurice_hines_300ppi-SMALLWith a career that began at age 5, Maurice Hines was once one-third of the dynamic trio, “Hines, Hines and Dad”, with his brother Gregory and his father, Maurice Hines, Sr., headlining for such acts as Gypsy Rose Lee and Lionel Hampton.  Performing with his brother, Gregory,  the Hines brothers later performed in venues from New York  to Las Vegas and throughout Europe, as well as counting over thirty-five performances on the Tonight Show. Maurice Hines’ Broadway credits include the hit musical Eubie!, Bring Back Birdie with Chita Rivera and Sophisticated Ladies, among others. The multi-talented Hines is a veteran  director and choreographer,  with critically acclaimed jazz albums also to his name. His albums are dedicated to Stanley Kay, Hines’ late manager, who was also  the creative force behind Sherrie Maricle & The Diva Jazz Orchestra, a band that carries on Kay’s musical legacy.

"Hines is the consummate showman... There's a master at work here..."—The Boston Herald

diva2008_black-black_300ppi-SMALLDownBeat magazine called the Diva Jazz Orchestra  “One of the best big bands in the world.”  Led by drummer Sherri Maricle,  Diva  has played Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, NY’s  Apollo Theatre, the Kennedy Center in D.C., and had played internationally  from the Meridian Hotel in Paris to the International Jazz Festival in Bogota. In their concert with Nancy Wilson, the Cleveland Plain Dealer raved about Diva, “ Everybody in that band was powerful... Their set, powered by drummer-leader Sherrie Maricle, smoked."
