A DECEMBER OF ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS @ THE MORRIS MUSEUM

TOYLAND FAMILY FESTIVAL
WHEN: Tuesday, December 27, 11 AM – 4 PM

ADMISSION: Free with museum admission: $7/child, $10/adult

Art of the Brick Yellow_FinalCome for a day of indoor winter fun for the whole family. Be inspired by the new LEGO® sculpture exhibition The Art of the Brick®  [opening  December  2] and bring your best LEGO creation for the Museum’s  “People’s Choice LEGO Competition.” Festival admission includes entrance to all museum galleries. Enjoy activities throughout the museum:

  • Follow the action of a 40-foot model train.
  • Decorate a jingle bell
  • Make a wooden train conductor doll
  • Create a yarn octopus, puppet animals and snowpeople
  • Listen to a reading of the classic holiday book, Polar Express.

CHILDREN’S THEATER

Choo-Choo Charlie’s Magic Show

Families will be enthralled with Choo-Choo Charlie’s comedy and magic, including lots of audience participation. Children will be encouraged to join the “Choo-Choo Shuffle,” “Magic Effects” and much more.

The Snow Queen

The classic Hans Christian Anderson tale is told through narration, dance and the wonders of puppetry. When two friends look into a demon's magic mirror and discover frightening things in the world, an interesting cast of characters helps them find their way.  The beautiful Snow Queen, danced by a 12-foot tall puppet, teaches them a valuable lesson about holding strong to their beliefs.

VACATION DAY WORKSHOPS

When school’s out, enjoy a day at the Museum and participate in a range of fun activities. (Please also note Children’s Theatre listings above for Dec. 27 & 28) Drop-in at any time during the session to participate. Pre-registration is not required. Adults must accompany children. Families are invited to drop in and participate in hands-on science workshops. Children will be introduced to the scientific method as they conduct experiments and observe the results. Drop-in at any time during the session to participate. Pre-registration is not required. Adults must accompany children

The Third Friday of every month at 10:00 AM (30-40 minutes)

Free with museum admission

This program is for children ages 2 – 5 and their caregivers. Activities include a mini gallery tour and an art project. Pre-registration is not required. Note: the museum opens early exclusively for this program.
