njdrama_169The New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts (NJSDA) will present a weekend of theater and comedy in Bloomfield.  Class Acts, NJSDA's One Act Play Festival, is an evening of 11 short one-act plays featuring characters ranging from the sweetly deranged to the insanely blissful.  This production marks NJSDA's eighth production of one acts. The cast are all members of their professional adult master class program. Previous cast members have gone on to perform in independent films, national TV commercials and off-off Broadway.

Nutty By Nature has been making audiences laugh throughout the metropolitan NY/NJ area for the past 14 years. The Herald News described them as “bawdy, brilliant and proof that ingenuity can strike at a moment’s notice.” Nutty By Nature has been featured on the E! Television/Style Network’s reality TV series, Try My Life. They have also delighted audiences at: The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), The South Street Seaport, 12 Miles West, Theatre Under the Stars, The Black River Playhouse, Luna Stage, Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores. For the past three years they have been the official improv troupe at Pianos in Bloomfield.

Their shows are based entirely on audience suggestions! “After all,” says director Bob Sapoff, “the only thing better than having a great idea is watching it come to life right before your eyes”! Sapoff also is the creator of On The Spot, which just celebrated its fifth anniversary. On The Spot has performed throughout northern New Jersey and is a regular at The Crossroads in Garfield. Sparks of Insanity is New Jersey's only professional teen improv comedy troupe.  It was created at the New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts and has just celebrated its fourth anniversary. They have performed at several high schools throughout the area and at the Giggles Children's Theater in St. Joseph's Childrens Hospital.

Improv-Mania will be a combination of comedy, sports and improv all rolled into one. Each troupe will compete against the others for points based upon how funny and clever they are.  They will also be playing for prizes for members of the audience. Sapoff also encourages audience members to “bring your own crazy props,” which will be used by the actors during the show.
