For those of you who wondered what would happen to Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey when its theater space was sold, here’s good news:
Playwrights Theatre has reached an agreement with Fairleigh Dickinson University to present its New Play Development programming in residence on the College at Florham in Madison, NJ. Programming will begin with Playwrights’ Forum Reading Series, which consists of concert readings of 19 plays between November 29 and December 18, 2011. Full productions of new works will occur during the summer months, with two plays scheduled for June and August 2012. Playwrights Theatre’s roundtable reading series FORUM will take place this year at two locations. Readings will begin promptly at 7:00 PM each evening on November 29, December 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18 at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Dreyfuss Theatre, 285 Madison Avenue, Madison. The Growing Stage, Route 183, 7 Ledgewood Avenue, Netcong, NJ, will host readings at 7:00 PM on November 30, December 1 and 1:00pm on December 3 and December 4. FORUM brings playwrights, actors and audience members together to enjoy the creative process of bringing a play to life. Staged readings of 19 innovative new plays by some of the country’s best writers with intimate discussions between author and audience following each performance. TICKETS: $10 for one reading or for $25, patrons can purchase a FORUM pass which admits them to all 23 readings. Reservations can be made online or call 973.514.1787 X10.
