FARMSTEAD ARTS OFFERS A HARP ENSEMBLE, ARTISTS’ BOUTIQUE, AND HOLIDAY STORIES AND ART IN DECEMBER

TICKETS: In celebration of the Farmstead Arts first anniversary, the concert will be free and open to the public.

Come for some early holiday cheer and beautiful music at the HarpAntics Harp Ensemble concert featuring traditional and original works for six harps. Vocalist/harpist/percussionist Odarka Stockert, known as “Odarka,” will direct and perform with the HarpAntics ensemble featuring Dr. Clara Hyun-Lee of Livingston, Ben Kevelson of Westfield, Reuben Morris of Maplewood, Faye Fishman of Randolph, and Leslie Hansen of Warren.

Odarka, of Millburn NJ, is an accomplished harpist who is classically trained and has performed an eclectic mix of Celtic, Ukrainian and Eastern music since the 1980’s. She has spent several summers in Dublin, Ireland, competing in the O’Carolan Irish Harp and Granard Harp competitions, winning honors and awards in both. She is also the collaborator of Yara Art Group based at La Mama, ETC in New York and the founding member of Glendalough’s Muse, a Celtic harp and flute duo. ARTISTS’ BOUTIQUE
WHEN:
December 4 from 1-4 PM
WHERE: Farmstead Arts at 450 King George Road in Basking Ridge. 

Shop for some unique holiday gifts at the Artists' Boutique featuring jewelry, purses, scarves, handcrafted wooden bowls, furniture made from 300 year-old wood, and more. Artist/owner Linda Tribuna of TMC Boutique of Stirling will bring a wonderful sampling of the handcrafted items made by over 30 artisans from across the United States. Farmstead teaching artist Susan Antin will have an assortment of handmade holiday cards and small prints; gallery coordinator Kristina Lloyd will have a beautiful custom-made jewelry; and resident weaving artists Michelle and Lorenzo Marigliano will have hand-loomed textiles for sale.

TICKETS: $10 for adults and children. $5 for seniors and children 5 and under.

Master storyteller Linda Howe will tell a special holiday story. The storytelling will include a group art project that will use recycled materials to create an animal that will be displayed at the farmhouse.

Linda Howe of New Providence has over 30 years experience of storytelling, writing, and creating art in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. In New Jersey, she has participated in storytelling at the Great Swamp Halloween event, the Chatham and Warren school districts, the Early Crafts and Trade Museum in Madison, and at the Chatham and Montclair libraries, as well as, a variety of camps in the North East.  She is on the faculty at the Yard School at Montclair Museum.

Photography 11 Exhibit and Sale

Farmstead Arts at 450 King George Road in Basking Ridge.
ADMISSION: The exhibit is free and open to the public and will be closed on December 24 and 25.

The exhibit features 11x14 photography by over 30 photographers.  All photographs are available for sale. 

In addition to these events, Farmstead Arts will conduct a community meeting on Wednesday, December 14, at 10:30 AM at the farmhouse. The purpose of the meeting is to gather ideas from the community on programming classes and other uses for the farmstead.  There will be a power point presentation of the current uses of the farmstead and projects that will be funded by grants.  All residents are encouraged to attend.
