THEATRE SERIES FOR KIDS SCHEDULED BY CENTENARY STAGE COMPANY

The Young Audience Series is back on the Centenary Stage by popular demand with even more plays and performances for your family to enjoy. The YAS is part of the professional Centenary Stage Company’s mission to serve the region’s youth with dynamic performances and workshops throughout the year. This season, the YAS offers stage adaptations of your favorite classic children's literature every third Saturday of the month on the campus of Centenary College. Mark your calendars and give your kids the gift of theater!

Performances take place in the Kutz Theatre or the Little Theatre on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown. Venue for each performance available when you order your tickets online.

If You Give A Pig a PancakeIF YOU GIVE A PIG A PANCAKE
Based on the beloved book by Laura Numeroff Joffee

From the Laura Numeroff Joffee repertoire, If You Give A Pig a Pancake follows the enterprising journey of a young girl who accommodates the demands of a quirky piglet after eating pancakes. Their adventure is an escapade which becomes embroiled in taking a bubble bath, a little tap dance, taking a photo, mailing a letter, building a tree house and, of course, going back for more pancakes.

Arnold Lobel’s beloved characters Frog and Toad spring from the page to the stage in this fast-paced, spirited musical conceived by William and Robert Reale. A Year with Frog and Toad remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the spirited Frog and the grumpy Toad, through four fun-filled seasons. Throughout their adventure they learn many life lessons, including the most important one about friendship.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is an adventurous, fun-filled performance appropriate for ages Pre-K through 5th grade. Let’s say you are standing around the kitchen, minding your own business when a hungry mouse in coveralls wearing a backpack shows up. What would you do? See how an innocent milk and cookie snack time goes from mishap to calamity to catastrophe faster than the twitch of a whisker.

Based on the true story of the young Japanese girl Sadako Sasaki who inspired a national peace movement

A Thousand Cranes is based on the true story of the young Japanese girl Sadako Sasaki who inspired a national peace movement. This highly stylized piece combines Japanese and American language, music and dance , highlighting Japanese society in the after math of World War II. A Thousand Cranes is appropriate for ages fourth grade through High School.
