POLISH PERFORMING & WRITING SKILLS @ SOPAC

ArtWorks

WHERE: South Orange Performing Arts Center, One SOPAC Way, South Orange

ArtWorks is a performing arts training and leadership program for students interested in learning and expanding their performance skills, as well as learn about putting on a performance.  Students are taught leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills, so they can successfully manage projects, work effectively within a group, and clearly organize and present their ideas. The goal of the Artworks program is for students to act as leaders and gain the confidence necessary to promote positive change in society through the use of the arts.

Grades: 5-7
Students focus on the creative process of writing and performing. Students learn about songwriting, playwriting, acting, and singing, and participate in group and team building exercises.

Grades: 8-12
Students expand on their creative and performing skills, as well as learning about the administrative side of presenting an event through workshops and discussions. Students write and produce their own event, and learn about what it takes to present the performance they created. From promoting and selling tickets to their show, to stage management and house management, students receive hands-on experience in various aspects of performing arts disciplines.
