MORRIS MUSEUM SETS PROGRAMS FOR KIDS & FAMILIES FOR JANUARY & FEBRUARY

Here are a raft of activities for families and kids sponsored by the Morris Museum in Morristown during the month of January. Science, art, tours: Select the ones you’re interested in and mark your calendars. Don’t forget to go:

The Morris Museum offers a variety of fun and enriching workshops for children and families in January and February. Stop by any time during the session to participate in these workshops. Pre-registration is not required unless noted. Adults must accompany children. For more information, please call 973.971.3718.

Open Art Workshops
Thursdays 3:30 – 6:30 PM
$5/child
Appropriate for all ages

Join museum educators to create your own work of art. Drop-in anytime during the session to participate.

Super Science Saturdays
Saturday, Noon - 2:00 PM
$3/child plus museum admission
Appropriate for ages 5 and up

Families are invited to drop in and participate in hands-on science workshops. Children will be introduced to the scientific method as they conduct experiments and observe the results.

Tot Tours
The Third Friday of every month at 10:00 AM

This program is for children ages 2 – 5 and their caregivers.

Activities include a mini gallery tour and an art project.


  • Jan. 21 The Medical Illustrations of Frank H. Netter, MDChildren will learn about their bodies while investigating medical illustrations in the exhibition Frank H. Netter, MD Michelangelo of Medicine.
  • Feb. 18 Teapots
    Children will go on a scavenger hunt to learn about different kinds of teapots and then play a Victorian children’s game.
Heart Art Treasure Box
Saturday, January 29
10 AM – 12 PM
Free with museum admission
Appropriate for children ages 6 – 10

Decorate your own special heart-shaped treasure box. This keepsake will hold a child’s expressions of love and gratitude, which will be placed in the treasure box. Free expression and experimentation in a variety of media will be encouraged. The workshop will be led by Maria Lupo (MFA, MA-ATR, Registered Art Therapist), Healing Arts Coordinator for Atlantic Health. Please call 973.971.3720 to reserve your space.


Chocolate Family Festival
Saturday February 12

Come to the Morris Museum for our third annual Chocolate Festival, and enjoy a day of chocolaty fun!

  • Chocolate tasting and samples
  • Chocolate making demonstrations
  • Decorate the Morris Museum’s chocolate mascot
  • Make a heart-shaped finger puppet
  • Chocolate for a healthy heart, with Atlantic Health professionals
  • Design your own conversation heart
  • Help paint the museum’s chocolate community art project
The Morris Museum, located at 6 Normandy Heights Road (at the corner of Columbia Turnpike) in Morristown, NJ, is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 11 AM to 5 PM; Thursday, 11 AM to 8 PM; and Sunday, 1-5 PM. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults and $7 for children, students and senior citizens. Admission is free for museum members and is free to the public every Thursday between 5 and 8 PM.
