MORRIS MUSEUM HOLIDAY FESTIVAL & HOLIDAY SHOPPES

Throughout the week, from Sunday, December 5  through Sunday, December  12, the Morris Museum will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The Holiday Tree Festival will showcase decorated holiday trees, wreaths, garlands, table top trees and gift items. The Holly Shoppes will offer holiday gifts available for purchase, including items for babies and children, toys, jewelry and accessories, as well as many beautiful one-of-a-kind hand crafted decorations and ornaments.

As a gift to the community, entrance to the Holiday Festival and admission to the Morris Museum are free during the Holiday Festival week.

MM-snowmancandytreeRCommunity Trees, Music and Tea Room
Also on view will be exquisitely decorated community trees, each with its own unique theme. These trees are sponsored by individuals, and donated to charities at the end of the festival.

Several local schools are participating in a tree decorating contest. Come in and vote for your favorite tree; the “people’s choice” winner will be announced at the end of the festival.

Throughout the week, local community and school music and choral groups will perform in the museum’s entrance pavilion. Groups scheduled to date are:

  • December 6 at 3 PM            Pingry School Boys’ Chorus
  • December 8 at 4:30 PM      Brightest Star Select Chorus     (grades 8-12)
  • December 10 at 1:00 PM   Winston School Chorus
  • December 12 at 1:00 PM   Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains — Bell Choir
  • December 12 at 2:00 PM   St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Whippany — Ukranian Bandura (stringed instrument) and Carols        

When you visit the Holiday Festival, Holly Shoppes and museum exhibitions, enjoy a tasty lunch in the Holiday Tea Room, which will be serving soup, sandwiches and light fare, catered by Morristown’s C’est Cheese. Sunday through Friday, 11 AM to 3 PM

Holiday Festival Party
Saturday, December 5, 6:00 – 9:00 PM
Kick off the holiday season at The Friends of the Morris Museum’s Holiday Festival Open House. Guests will enjoy cocktails and sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and have the opportunity to visit the museum’s Holly Shoppes to preview and purchase boutique items. Teddy Bear Tea
Saturday, December 12 — Three seatings: 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM
Bring your teddy bears to the tea, and enjoy refreshments, festive entertainment, and a special visit from Santa, who brings a gift for each child.  Perfect for families with children ages 3 – 8, the Teddy Bear Tea is a great opportunity for a family holiday photo. Tickets are $20 per person. Reservations are required - please call 973.971.3706.

Morris Choral Society’s Holiday Festival of Song: Holiday Spectacular VII
Friday, December 10, 8 PM and Sunday, December 12, 3 PM
The Theater at the Morris Museum presents the award-winning Morris Choral Society, returning for the seventh consecutive season. Don't miss this 80-voice chorus with soloists in a traditional performance of holiday music and fun sing-a-longs. They will be delighting audiences with the musical sounds of holiday celebrations from around the world and the familiar tunes of Main Street USA. Tickets: $15 - $25. Please call 973.971.3706.
