The Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company performs graceful dances that have continuously changing patterns and numerous entrances and exits. Each dance is short and fast-paced. The beautiful costumes are adorned with embroidery, seashells, satin, straw, feathers and frilled lace.

The name of the company is derived from the Filipino tradition called bayanihan which means “working together for the common good.” Dr. Helena Benitez founded the Bayanihan Folk Dance Group of the Philippines in 1956. The dance company extensively researched indigenous Philippine art forms in music, dance, folklore and costumes.

The Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company has gone on 14 major world tours since their founding in 1956. They have performed in 6 continents, 66 countries and 700 cities worldwide. This company has won multiple national and international awards.
