CSC PRESENTS THE MUSICAL “OLIVER!” THIS HOLIDAY SEASON IN THE NEW LACKLAND CENTER

Centenary Stage Company is performing another tale by Charles Dickens—instead of the old chestnut A Christmas Carol—that will charm the whole family. The 50-member cast includes professional actors, students of Centenary College’s Theatre Department and kids from the Young Performers’ Workshop. And it will be performed in their spiffy new theater on the college campus.

Called “the perfect Christmas matinee,” the musical Oliver! tells the tale of the orphan boy, Oliver Twist, who is swept into a band of pickpockets led by the wily Fagin in 19th century London.
Hailed as a  masterpiece, the musical Oliver! displays the talents of composer  Lionel Bart at his best. Familiar show-stopping musical numbers such as “Consider Yourself,” “Who Will Buy,” “Where is Love?” and “As Long as He Needs Me,”  will have audiences “whistling the tunes of this heartwarming play as they exit the theater,” as one review stated.

Broadway veteran Michael Blevins will direct and choreograph the cast of over 50 as the Centenary Stage Company christens the 500-seat Sitnick theater with the sound of tap dancing and high kicks in the first-ever musical to be performed in the new space.
