"THE OLD SETTLER" INAUGURATES LUNA STAGE'S NEW DIGS

Luna Stage is another of my favorite professional (Actors Equity) theaters out here in the "wilds" of NJ. They consistently produce unusual plays (not the "tried and the tired" as NY Times critic Alvin Klein once called Oklahoma and the like) that will set you thinking and talking long after the lights have come down on the performance. They used to be located on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, but moved to the Valley Arts District in West Orange this Spring. The new theater is beautiful—still intimate! And the area has several interesting restaurants, so you can make it an evening!

Set in 1940s Harlem, this insightful and humorous new drama tells the story of Elizabeth and Quilly—two churchgoing sisters of a certain age. When a handsome young man from the Deep South rents a room in the apartment they share, all hell breaks loose. Since its premiere in 1997, The Old Settler has fast become a new American classic.
