Sandy Duncan to Head Cast of George Street Playhouse’s Production of “Circle Mirror Transformation”

Set to Open 2010-11 Season

Sandy Duncan color Stage and screen star Sandy Duncan returns to lead the cast of the George Street Playhouse production of Circle Mirror Transformation—which opens the New Brunswick theater’s 37th season. Ms. Duncan, who returns to George Street following her withdrawal (due to health concerns) from last season’s Creating Claire, will portray Marty, the teacher of an  adult acting class in a local community center.

What do a flirty former actress, a teen-aged girl, a hippie husband and a recently-divorced carpenter have in common?  Not much until they take an acting class together for six weeks, revealing secrets that they never intended and transforming in ways they never expected. Annie Baker’s comedy, which recently won a 2010 OBIE Award as Best New Off-Broadway Play and was named one of the best plays of the 2009 season by The New York Times, The New Yorker and Time Out New York, will run in New Brunswick beginning Tuesday, October 5, and run through Sunday, October 31.

“I am so happy to welcome Sandy back to George Street and to welcome this very talented quartet of fine actors,” said George Street Playhouse Artistic Director David Saint, “and I am doubly thrilled to have the very talented director Anders Cato here as well.  They couldn’t be more perfect to bring this wonderfully funny play to life on our stage.”
