CELEBRATE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH AT THE WEST ORANGE LIBRARY

Remember back in the summer when I told you that the library is a great place for FREE activities? Read on for an exciting month of events planned at the West Orange Library:

The West Orange Public Library celebrates Hispanic Heritage MonthHispanic Heritage Month Image 2010 with  special events for all ages. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually throughout the nation from September 15 through October 15. The celebration begins on September 15 since that is the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively.

dancerPeruvian Dance Interactive Performance

The Arts and Folklore Peruvian Dance Academy will dazzle the audience with dances from the Coast, Andes and Amazon regions of Peru. Experience Peruvian culture and learn about Peru's history. All ages are welcome to attend this free performance. Wednesday, September 15, at 7 PM. Advance registration is recommended. Sign up online at www.wopl.org.

Bilingual Program for the Whole Family

Students from the West Orange High School Spanish Club will present a bilingual program for all ages at the Library. Classic fairytales will unfold into a spectacular puppet show! Singing and dancing will follow the show. Sing along with well-known favorites like the chicken dance, arroz con leche, and head, shoulders, knees and toes performed in both Spanish and English. The fun evening ends with face painting for children. The WOHS Spanish Club works under the direction of teacher, Carlos Perez.

Advance registration is not required.
