BUGS, BUGS, BUGS @ THE NEWARK MUSEUM

This activity sound like just the thing for your budding etymologists. Mark your calendar, bundle them (and appropriate/interested adults) into the car and travel to the Newark Museum for a fun day. Yuck—but in a good way!

Kids and families can enjoy a fun-filled day exploring and discovering the insect world through science and art activities. Visitors can get up close to live cockroaches and other fascinating bugs. Then investigate the Newark Museum's insect collection.

  • Discover live Cockroaches, Tarantulas, Millipedes, Termites and other Arthropods.
  • Observe and learn about creatures living in the termite's gut.
  • Follow the Termite Trail.
  • Find insect images in the Museum's art galleries through the Insect Scavenger Hunt.
  • Learn how to start your own insect collection.
  • Participate in a variety of insect-related art activities such as Insect Eyes, Insect Jumbo Puzzles, Insects under dissection Microscopes.
