THE THEATER PROJECT JR. COLLEGE FOR KIDS SUMMER THEATER WORKSHOP

Summer-Long Theater Workshop for Local Youths Ages 10-18 Concludes with
Public Performances Featuring a “Glee”-like Twist

The Theater Project, Union County’s Professional Theater Company, will present The Audition for one weekend only, performed by The Theater Project Jr. College for Kids, local youths aged 10-18 who participated in a summer-long Theater Workshop and immersed them in the full theatrical process.

The students have been rehearsing The Audition by Don Zolidis for seven weeks. The show is a hilarious and heartbreaking look at the madness of auditioning for a high school production of A Chorus Line and the actors who brave the process for that perfect part. In a “Glee”-like twist, the student performers have written and choreographed their own unique second act.

WHEN:  Friday, August 13, and Saturday, August 14, at 8 PM, and Sunday, August 15, at 2 PM
WHERE: Roy Smith Theater at Union County College’s Cranford Campus, 1633 Springfield Avenue in Cranford.
TICKETS: $10, children under 5 admitted free.

During the seven-week Theater Workshop, students learned acting and vocal techniques, character development, presentation skills, stage makeup and more. Students also experienced the technical side of theatrical production, including stage management, set design and construction and lighting design. In addition, students learned and participated in the important behind-the-scenes fundraising and marketing side of theater through the selling of tickets and program advertisements and promotion.

The Theater Project Jr. College for Kids Summer Theater Workshop is presented by The Theater Project, Union County College’s Professional Theater Company, in conjunction with Union County College's Continuing Education Program.

The Theater Project’s exciting 2010 season continues in September with the Regina Taylor musical Crowns and runs September 23 through October 17. For more information, visit thetheaterproject.org.
