CAMPS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades (411 E. Clinton Avenue in Tenafly) is running a camp for children with special needs. JCC membership is not required for the following programs.

CAMP DREAM STREET
The Pearl Seiden Summer Program for Children with Cancer and Other Blood Disorders

A special, weeklong day camp experience serving the social needs of children with cancer and other blood disorders. Siblings are invited to participate in the wide variety of social and recreational activities.

Programs include arts and crafts, sports, dance, nature, music, swimming and entertainment, all held in age-appropriate groupings.

CAMP HAVERIM
Camp Haverim is a two-week camp designed for children and teens, ages 3-21, with special needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Asperger Syndrome, Communication and Learning Differences, Moderately Neurological and Cognitive Delays and Developmental Disabilities, who attend 11 months of special schooling.

Camp Haverim provides:
• Social Skills Training • Swimming  • Sports and Adaptive Physical Education  • Music • Art •  Dance •  Yoga, in addition to Academic enrichment.

Certified/experienced head teachers, assistants and volunteers provide a 1:1 camper/staff ratio.

Space is limited. Group sizes are between 4–8 campers. Priority is given to returning campers, participants in Special Services programs and JCC members. Intake interview is required for all perspective campers. JCC membership is not required for Camp Haverim.

Camp Haverim accepts payment from approved DDD Social Service Agency Providers as well as full payment from sending School Districts. Limited scholarships/financial aid is available on an as-needed basis.
